It is that time of year again! As soon as the first snow falls, students at Buckeye High School and Buckeye Junior High School look forward to meeting on the slopes at Boston Mills Ski Resort in Peninsula, Ohio. The Ski and Snowboard Club meets after school every Thursday in January and February to board the bus for an exciting adventure. Boston Mills is our destination for the first five outings. Our time slot is 3:30 until 7:30 p.m. Skiers and snowboarders attend a one hour lesson those first five times. When the hour lesson is over, they are free to ski/snowboard the rest of the evening. After our five times at Boston Mills, we then turn our skis/boards to Brandywine.

The cost for Ski/Snowboard Club is paid entirely by those participating. Students pay $127 to Boston Mills if they own their own equipment; if they rent equipment, the cost to Boston Mills is $175. This is a discount of 45% offered to school clubs. Each participant also pays $100 to charter a bus for all outings. There are currently 65 members in Buckeye Ski/Snowboard Club.

Every March, Buckeye’s Ski/Snowboard Club has the opportunity to go to Holiday Valley in New York to try longer and more challenging slopes. It is a day of great fun that all participants eagerly await.
