BUCKEYE HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT CARE MEMBERS joined Aeropostale clothing store "TEENS FOR JEANS" campaign to help collect jeans for teens in HAITI as well as for homeless teens in America. Student Jordan Canady presented the idea to the Project Care group after the Haiti disaster.
Project Care students provide community service at school and in the community with several projects a year. As a whole, the group consists of many students who may not otherwise be involved in more popular extracurricular activities, like student counsel, but who still have a strong desire to be involved at their school. The Jean's campaign ran for two weeks throughout the school district. Students and staff participated by donating 774 pairs of jeans which were delivered to Areopostale clothing store at Summit mall on February 12, 2010. Aeropostale will match the jeans collected throughout the country up to 100,000 and send them all to Haiti. Any jeans collected above and beyond that total will be distributed to homeless teen shelters in the Akron area. Our students and staff were excited to participate in such a worthy cause.
