Buckeye Elementary Schools are committed to ensuring each child makes significant academic progress. To do this, we continuously review information that tells us how each child is progressing.
According to the State of Ohio Standards for kindergarten through twelfth grade, “Educational programs and experiences shall be designed and implemented to provide a general education of high quality for all students. Instruction shall include intervention that is designed to meet student needs. When made available, educational options shall require an instructional plan that is based on individual student needs and shall include:
A) Instructional objectives that align with the school district’s curriculum requirements;
B) An outline that specifies instructional activities materials and learning environments and
C) A description of the criteria and methods for assessing student performance.”
As a result, one of the emerging issues in the law that might surface in your conversation with school staff is Response to Intervention.
Response to Intervention (RTI) is based on the concept of providing evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies.
Response to Intervention (RTI) is administered by HQ (Highly Qualified) staff, is matched to student needs, is monitored on a frequent basis, and is used to make decisions regarding student’s education or educational needs.
Brochures are available in the offices.
