    Road Sign Minimize
We are very excited about the new road sign in front of the Buckeye Elementary Schools. This sign effectively communicates upcoming events for the elementary schools and it can and will post information for all Buckeye schools and the townships. Directly connected to the Amber Alert service, the sign will also immediately inform all 252 travelers of such an alert.

A dynamic sign that is computer programmed can communicate events and information much more efficiently and effectively than a sign that requires the physical adjustment of letters once every few weeks. In the event of an emergency, the sign can be used to immediately communicate with parents on the scene, the planning for which our school district takes very seriously.

We thank Medina Signs and contractor Dave Sterritt for his knowledge and expertise that make the sign a valuable, effective and long lasting tool to help our district’s students and families.

This sign was in the original plans when the Elementary Buildings were first designed and constructed. Because of a potential required widening of 252 to accommodate extra traffic, the school officials were particularly careful to wait and make sure the sign, once installed, would be in a safe and long lasting location no matter what the state highway service required for the roadways around the school. The $24,000 required for the sign and installation had been previously set aside for this distinct purpose from the bond issue that was passed in 1999.

Thank you to the York Township Trustees, the York Zoning Board of Appeals, and Zoning Inspector Dorothy Crouch for all of their work with Superintendent Dennis Honkala through the process. We are happy to see such a valuable tool being utilized for our students and families.

If you would like to apply to have a community event posted on the sign, please contact Denise Piovarchy at 330-722-8257 x1001.  (Certain requirements must be met for posting.)  Together, we can make our community even stronger!
