    ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT:
Spread the word – Buckeye Local Schools are academically “Excellent with Distinction”!

The Buckeye Local School District received the Ohio Department of Education’s highest academic rating for the 2007-2008 school year “Excellent with Distinction”. Buckeye is one of 74 school districts in Ohio (612 school districts in Ohio) to receive this designation and is ranked 17th of the 96 school districts in the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s circulation area.

    DIGITAL MESSAGE SIGN:
The digital message sign in front of the Buckeye Elementary Schools was a part of the original plans when the elementary buildings were first designed and constructed. Because of a potential required widening of state route 252 to accommodate extra traffic, school officials waited to obtain more information before installing the sign. The $24,000 required for the sign and installation had been previously set aside for this distinct purpose from the bond issue that was passed in 1999.

    STADIUM RENOVATION:
The scoreboard at the stadium was purchased with donations from the Buckeye Athletic Boosters and Buckeye Football Mom’s Club. The installation of the scoreboard was done with money from Coca-Cola Bottling Company as part of our service contract with Coca-Cola.

The four-foot fence (around the stadium field), football goal posts and soccer goals were purchased with money from the one-half percent Medina County Sales Tax. This money can only be used for permanent improvement.  The fence was needed for crowd control and safety during home events. The goals were purchased in preparation for the 2009-2010 season when our boys and girls soccer teams will move to the soccer/track complex located behind the high school.
